CFDA x Liz Claiborne

Design for Impactful Futures Scholar Award

Finalist

  • As a female, feminism and fighting for women's well-being are Junyi’s instincts, while as a fashion designer, designing for sustainability is her first language.

  • Parthenogenesis describes a phenomenon that by clone and replication, female animals can reproduce without males participating in any of the processes.

  • Junyi kept on using 100% degradable natural fabrics such as linen, wool, alpaca, and natural dyes such as charcoal and Indigo. She also used loofah, a material that has never been used in the fashion industry.

  • Its natural texture resonated with the theme and by using CLO 3D modeling, and recycling clothes, she was able to make the project as sustainable as it could be.
